Today's Post is Brought to You by the Letter F
/On a very foggy morning last week I was in the car with my 5 year son Wetzel. We had been driving along for maybe 5 minutes when he spoke up from the back seat with what sounded like concern. “Dad, I can’t see where we are going.” Without thinking I immediately replied “Don’t worry. I can.”
When I took time to further ponder our conversation about the fog, I thought “What a brilliant illustration!” My son reminds me of an anxious Christian who doesn’t know The Father’s entire plan. The Father’s will should direct our life and carry us along to the destination of His choosing, just as I was safely transporting Wetzel. The Father knows where you are, where you are going, when you will arrive and in fact The Father knows everything about your journey. As limited beings, this is often disconcerting to us because it is natural for us to want to see and know it all — after all we want to be in control (or to at least think that we are)!
If, in a spiritual fog, we are to express to God that we are uncertain, can’t see or are even afraid He very well might respond similarly to how I did. He might say “I have everything under control. Trust Me, there is nothing to fear. Rest. I will deliver you to the destination of My choosing.” His response brings us to another “F” word — faith.
True believers are to live life in faith. In fact Hebrews 11:6 tells us that outside of faith it is impossible to please God! If faith is absent from your walk, I guarantee you that you will have serious friction, or even enmity, with God. Paul takes this Truth even further in his letter to the Romans. He writes
The absence of faith is sin. Period. There isn’t anywhere to hide with this black and white truth. Moments and days are either lived with or without faith.
Faith is not a natural choice, but beyond that, the Western system in 2017 is set up specifically to remove any need for faith. Financial planners instruct us to save for “financial security” and our bucket list, nutritionists and trainers work to educate us to eat right and exercise for good health and marketers goad us to insure all of our goods for “peace of mind.” I could go on and on with other examples, but I think you get the point. I’m not railing against eating healthy food, saving for retirement or even insurance, but our trust has to be in God, not what we are doing or have done.
Are you 'in the fog,' so to speak?
Are you unsure of what’s next, where to go or how to overcome? Don’t fear, The Father sees all and is able to perfectly navigate you and your life even though you are unable to see into the future. Trust Him and I personally promise you that He will deliver you into lasting life and pleasures at His right hand.
Trust Him today, even if it looks foggy!
